Be My Eyes: Reuniting Bam Bam and Angel

On June 5, Angel Santiago's dog Bam Bam was stolen from his backyard. Angel, who is legally blind, walks seven miles everyday in the Logan Square area of Chicago calling out Bam Bam's name and handing out flyers. From Chicago to wherever you are, you can help join Angel's search. Click the buttons below!

"Angel Santiago was last with his 14-year-old dachshund, Bam Bam, around 4 a.m. on June 5. He said two men entered his backyard near Monticello and Fullerton avenues while the dog was outside for a bathroom break.

Santiago, who is legally blind due to glaucoma and also manages Type 2 diabetes, said he heard the disturbance and tried to intervene. He grabbed one of the suspects, who he believes was a teenager wearing long sleeves, but couldn’t hold on. He said he heard Bam Bam barking as the men fled, the sound fading as they got farther away."

Be my Eyes

"Bam Bam means the world to me and I feel my body draining away. I can only do so much. I promised that I will keep walking and walking, yelling his name out. But if you could just help me with your own eyes and see if you could spot him for me. Let your eyes be mine and look out for Bam Bam for me please. I beg of you to help me" (Fox32Chicago)

About Bam Bam

"He’s funny in his own way — he’s a little miniature clown. He loves dress-up, so we put him in his favorite sweaters or little costumes. He’s our happiness here. He keeps us going.” (Block Club Chicago)

13 years of love

Angel describes Bam Bam as his guiding light. Bam Bam has helped assist Angel by guiding him away from holes and bumps on walks. Bam Bam requires daily medication for his anxiety, so it is essential we reunite him with his Angel.
